This course is designed for people who operate or need to operate a pole saw as a part of their job. The course provides students with the knowledge and skills to operate a pole saw in a safe and efficient method. The course outlines:

  • Prepare and assess trees for pruning meeting OS&H, environmental and organizational standards
  • Trim trees safely ensuring re-growth is established
  • Cutting release cut or back cut
  • Operate and maintain pole saws

The course can be combined with FPICOT2239 Trim and Cut Felled Trees or AHCARB205A – Operate and Maintain Chainsaws

1 Day on its own or 3 days combined with another course



Class Size

A maximum of 10 students per class – with 2 instructors.


In order to run this students should bring at least one pole saw to the class


Competency is assessed by a theory examination and practical assessment

Course Award

At the completion of the course students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and pocket sized laminated ticket that details the competencies they have been awarded with.


The industry for chainsaw certification is that students should be reassessed [hyperlink to FAQ page- reassessment section of page] for competency every three years. At the end of three years students will be required to attend a one day reassessment.


The cost for the 1 day course is $245

GST is not levied on Nationally Accredited training
