Zero Turn Mower Training (Z-turn or skid steer)

The Zero Turn Mower course is designed for personnel who use or may need to use a ride-on mower in the course of their employment. Zero Turn Mowers are sometimes called Z Turn mowers or Skid Steer Mowers. This one-day course provides students with the knowledge and skill to enable them to safely operate and maintain a front-mounted ride on mower. The course details:

  • Mower Operator Obligations
  • Work Health and Safety responsibilities
  • Environmental Concerns (weeds, Spills, drains and storm water issues)
  • Driving conditionally registered vehicles
  • Pre-Start checks and maintenance activities (greasing, changing blades, tyres, etc)
  • Loading/unloading of mowers for transport
  • Basic mower operation,
  • Mowing on sloping and hazardous terrain
  • Grass health
  • Care for members of the public
  • Dealing with traffic

AHCMOM203 – Operate Basic Machinery
AHCMOM204 – Conduct Operational maintenance of Machinery

A maximum of 10 students per class

Specific Course Requirements

Typically this course is run either concurrently with the Basic Mower Course or as an add on after.  As a stand-alone course it has a prerequisite of completion of the Basic Mower Course.

Typically, clients will provide mowers for use on the course, if the training is to be held outside of Canberra, then access to mowers, a training facility and appropriate grass to mow will be required.

Assessment

Competency is assessed by a theory examination and practical assessment

Course Award

At the completion of the course, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and pocket-sized laminated ticket that details the competencies they have been awarded.

Frequency

It is proposed by the industry that the course be completed by all operators and that competency be reassessed every three years. This reassessment will be a one day course. This training is necessary for maintaining an employers obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act.

Price

The cost for the 2 Days course is $350 per person.
GST is not levied on Nationally Accredited training
