This course is designed for personnel who use or may need to use a chainsaw in the course of the employment. This two-day course provides students with the knowledge and skill to enable them to safely cross cut trees that have fallen over. The course details:
- Safety Features of a chainsaw and Personal Protective Equipment
- How trees grow and why they fall over
- Chain design and different types of chain available
- Sharpening of chain
- Chainsaw Maintenance (FWPCOT2254: Maintain Chainsaws)
- Identification, assess and manage hazards
- Safe Manual handling
- Basic cutting techniques

Specific Course Requirements
All equipment provided including chainsaws, PPE. If students have their own equipment and chainsaws they are encouraged to bring it along so that they can become familiar on equipment they will use regularly.
If the course is to be held outside of our Canberra location access to suitable trees that have either fallen or that can be felled is required.
Assessment
Competency is assessed by a theory examination and practical assessment
Course Award
At the completion of the course students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and pocket sized laminated ticket that details the competencies they have been awarded with.
Frequency
The industry for chainsaw certification is that students should be reassessed for competency every three years. At the end of three years students will be required to attend a one day reassessment.

The cost for the 2 day course is $640
GST is not levied on Nationally Accredited training
