This course has been specifically designed for non-agricultural users such as government organisations, government contractors, landscapers/horticulturalists and other groups who are required to use chemicals for non-farming purposes. The course has been contextualised to meet the specific needs of these groups but still meets the training package requirements for the Level 3 course. The Level 3 course is for users who will apply chemicals on an unsupervised basis. Holding valid certification is a legal requirement in NSW and the ACT.

The key learning outcomes for this course include:

  • Determine the need for chemical use.
  • Identify the appropriate chemical.
  • Prepare for chemical use according to label and MSDS.
  • Identify conditions for safely applying chemicals.
  • List procedures for cleaning up following chemical application.
  • Record application details
  • Determine how to transport and handle chemicals.
  • Identify how to store chemical safely.
  • Record storage details.
  • Read and interpret label and MSDS directions for safe transport, handling and storage.

This course can be combined with AHCPMG301 – Control Weeds

National Competency Code

AHCCHM201 – Apply Chemicals under Supervision
AHCCHM307 – Prepare and Apply chemicals to control pests, weeds and diseases
AHCCHM304 – Transport, Handle and Store Chemicals

Nil

Class Size

A maximum of 10 students per class

Assessment

Competency is assessed by a theory examination and practical assessment

Course Award

At the completion of the course students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment and pocket sized laminated ticket that details the competencies they have been awarded with.

Frequency

Legislation requires that students should be reassessed for competency every five years. At the end of five years students will be required to attend a one day reassessment.

GST is not levied on Nationally Accredited training
